First Communion and Confirmation Gifts: A Guide for Godparents and Grandparents

When a child you love receives a sacrament, you want to mark the day with something that lasts. The best gifts point back to the sacrament itself: they remind the child, years later, of what happened at the altar and who was there to pray for them.

What makes a good sacrament gift

  • It is meant to be used. A gift that is worn or prayed with will be remembered far longer than one that sits on a shelf.
  • It connects to the sacrament. The Eucharist for First Communion, the Holy Spirit and a patron saint for Confirmation.
  • It comes with a word from you. A short handwritten note is often the part that is kept the longest.

For a First Holy Communion

First Communion is the day a child first receives Our Lord in the Eucharist. Gifts that honor the Blessed Sacrament are a natural fit: a chalice or host medal, a cross, or a first rosary.

Our First Communion Bracelet Set pairs a Holy Eucharist charm with a cross, in soft pearl and lavender tones. It is made in children's sizes, 6 inches and 6.5 inches. Most First Communicants wear the 6-inch size, and the 6.5-inch leaves room to grow. If you are unsure, our size guide explains how to measure, and we are happy to make a custom size.

For a parent or grandparent who wants to match the child, the Blessed Sacrament Bracelet Set carries the same devotion in adult sizes.

For Confirmation

At Confirmation, the young person is sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit and usually chooses a patron saint. Two kinds of gifts mean the most:

Making the gift last

  1. Have it blessed. Our bracelets are sent unblessed, as the Church asks. Ask the priest to bless the gift on the day, or give it beforehand so it can be blessed with the child present. Here is how.
  2. Write a note. Tell them why you chose it, and that you will pray for them. That note may be read again on their wedding day.
  3. Give it early. If the bracelet is given a few days before, the child can wear it to the Mass itself.

Every bracelet arrives in a simple black pouch, ready to give. Orders usually ship within three business days, so please allow a week or so before the big day.
